Who Are You?

My name is Jonah Calinawan (JO nah ca lee NAH one) and I am the photographer behind foodportraits.com. I have always loved to create things making photography a perfect fit. I am a Chartered Accountant and CPA by training and worked for 12 years in the accounting field before switching to my what I love best—food and photography.

What Kind of Work Do You Do?

I shoot stock food images for corporate, advertising, and editorial use. I market my images through this website and through stock agencies. Most of my work gets published in magazines and textbooks.

Food photography has traditionally been done in the studio with extensive equipment and lighting. My approach to food photography is very simple. I begin with one light, usually existing light, and only add further light if it’s necessary.
