Cuban Pressed Sandwich
A break from my Japanese string of stock photos, I’m posting a Cuban pressed sandwich picture. It is common lunch food dating back to the early 1900s in Cuba and Miami. There is uncertainty as to where it really originated.
The traditional cuban sandwich, also known as cubano, is made out of ham, roasted pork, cheese, pickles, mustard on Cuban bread. It is pressed together on a sandwich press called a plancha, but it does not have the grooved surface like a panini maker. It is said that the traditional cuban sandwich does not contain lettuce, tomato, mayonaise. In the picture, the sandwich is served with yuca fries.
