Cuzco, Peru
Cuzco’s center is definitely Plaza De Armas. This square is where tourists and locals congregate. At any given time of day, the plaza is busy with people sitting around and people watching and locals selling everything from postcards to finger puppets. The plaza is surrounded by two churches, La Catedral and the Capilla de la Sagrada Familia (Chapel of the Sacred Family), a myriad of restaurants, internet cafes, and souvenir stores.
Highlights:
- Sitting on a bench at Plaza de Armas at dusk
- Watching a movie in a cafe and eating salty popcorn
- Seeing Marcos Zapata’s version of Jesus Christ’s Last Supper
- Talking to local kids. They know all the U.S. presidents by heart.
