Quick Food in the Hawaiian Islands
In terms of food, you’ll find lots of shrimp. If you drive along the North Shore of Oahu, you’ll see a lot of shrimp farms and shrimp trucks. Make sure you try the shrimps. They are cooked in a number of ways: fried, in teriyaki, in olive oil and herbs. Just delicious.
Pineapples are synonymous with Hawaii. Dole even has a pineapple museum! We didn’t go there but we did drive through pineapple fields and we had lots of pineapple. What would be more delicious than sitting on your beach chair eating chilled pineapple? Ok, a lot. But when you’re in Hawaii, sitting on a beach chair, watching the surfers and the waves, eating pineapple is a must. It’s like you are one with Hawaii, you know. But whatever you do, don’t forget the salt! If you haven’t had pineapple with salt, you are missing something. Pineapple really tastes better with a little bit of salt. I learned that while growing up in the Dole pineapple plantations in the Philippines.
