The Ubiquitous Japanese Vending Machines
These vending machines called jidohanbaiki are everywhere in Tokyo.
Jidoo means “automatic”; hanbai means “vending”; and ki means “machine”—so it’s jidohanbaiki or jihanki for short. They seem to be in every street corner, like Starbucks in North America. These machines normally sell soft drinks, coffee and tea, cigarettes, and even alcohol.
